Join the Revolution

Democracy aided by Technology

‘Originally conceived as a political party, the OWL movement has evolved into a global political movement towards the concept of cyberdemocracy.’

A Brief Introduction to the Movement

What is OWL?

OWL (One World League) is not just an idea - it’s a movement hiding in a novel. Think of it as a bold remix of democracy, literature, and global citizenship, all wrapped into one big creative package.

It all started with The Compleat OWL: The Forever Zeitgeist (Vol. 2), a mind-bending, satirical novel by Professor David Stevens. Set in a near-future world, it follows a group of young revolutionaries building something wild and necessary: a cyber-democracy based not on elections or politics-as-usual, but on wisdom, equity, erudition, and kindness.

Sounds idealistic? It is. But it’s also grounded in serious ideas—and it's calling on you to help rethink the future.

OWL is:

  • A fictional revolution (in the book)
  • A real-world project (right now)
  • A literary rite of passage for curious minds
  • A global invitation to reinvent how we engage with power, politics, and purpose

Establishing the Concept

Code of OWL

OWL recognises the individual and the ‘world group’. 10 guiding principles enable individuals to make a meaningful contribution to all lives and contribute to world peace.

Policies

The big invitation is to ask you, the wise world of individuals, to create and add to OWL policies. To build on them, refine them, and build strength and momentum within the movement.

Lead the Movement

We are looking for charismatic leaders; youthful in age or attitude; committed to international social change of the highest order, to lead an emerging revolutionary political entity.

A summary of:

OWL Vision

To create the opportunity, through the exploitation of the latest information technology and social networking for all eligible people, anywhere, to be able to express their views on critical policies, to in turn achieve a harmonious global community.

A summary of:

Cyberdemocracy

The concept of Cyberdemocracy, as defined by OWL, is the improvement of the concept of democracy via technology. We aim to leverage technology and cybercommunications to reduce corruption and give citizens the voice to truly have their say – through technology we aim to establish true democracy.

A summary of:

Assigning Representatives

Through a random selection method, senators will be chosen – much like jury duty – to form Government on a staggered, rolling basis. This allows for a wide range of voices in Government and lowers the chance of corruption.

A summary of:

True Equality

In the OWL system, senators are chosen by random selection to serve a term in Government. This “jury-duty style” method will ensure true equality – not only across race and gender, but also across demographics and geographic locations.

Voting and Policies

Through the cyberdemocracy concept, major issues could be voted on via a secure, internet-based plebiscite method. The average citizen will have more opportunities to voice their opinions and shape society, without the cost of constant in-person ballots.

The Vision

What if democracy wasn’t something you “voted in” once every few years, but something you lived, learned, and co-created every day?

OWL imagines a future where young people, you, lead the charge. Where citizenship is earned not just by age or geography, but by contribution, creativity, and character. We are building a kinder, wiser, more erudite world, designed by the people inheriting it.

OWL runs on four core values:

  1. Wisdom over ego. We ask bigger questions, not louder ones.
  2. Kindness as strategy. Not just as a vibe, but a serious civic tool.
  3. Equity, not equality.  Fairness means meeting people where they’re at.
  4. Erudition is cool again.  Smart isn’t smug. It’s survival.

No spin. No agendas. No “join us or else.” Just a weirdly refreshing approach to civic thinking that prioritises people, planet, and potential.
